It may seem unbelievable, but
babies as young as 7 months can learn to use sign language to
communicate. If you've been wondering about what goes on inside your
baby's mind, how to get around those frustrating "terrible twos", how
to get a head start on self-esteem and mastery of language or just
wanting to strengthen your connection with your little one, Signing
Together classes are for you!
Secure
Beginnings offers a variety of classes and
training opportunities to meet the varied needs of babies, parents and
professional caregivers. Classes are based on the award-winning SIGN with
your BABY system by Joseph
Garcia, which uses genuine ASL signs, which uses genuine ASL signs, and
taught by Mika Gustavson, a member of the SIGN with your BABY
Presenter's Network. You can choose from:
| Signing Together Littles 1 Introductory course. Focus is on learning to teach
signing and on learning the signs in the book. Daytime classes
available in Palo Alto, at Blossom Birth Services. Daytime and
evening classes by arrangement are also available. 6 weeks, meeting
once/week for 45 minutes, $75.00 |

| Signing Together Littles 2 Prerequisite: Littles 1, or other signing with
your baby experience. Focus is on adding useful vocabulary and
reinforcing what has come before. Daytime classes available in Palo
Alto. Daytime and evening classes by arrangement are also available. 6
weeks, meeting once/week for 45 minutes, $75.00 |

| Signing Together Review Occasional age-mixed group, 45 - 60 minutes. Focus
is on reinforcing familiar vocabulary and maintaining connections with
other families who sign. Also appropriate for siblings and older
children. Often takes place outdoors, in local parks. $12.00 per family
per session. Contact Mika for times and places. |

Jumpstart Workshop One-time, two-hour workshop. Focus is on teaching
caregivers about the basics of signing with babies, and providing
resources for future learning. Especially good for expectant parents,
caregivers of babies younger than 6 months, and for those who prefer a
one-time class. By arrangement; contact Mika for information. $65.00
per individual or $85.00 per couple. Fee includes SIGN with your BABY Complete Learning Kit
(a $50.00 value) Also available in Palo Alto, at Blossom Birth
Serivices. Note the class at Blossom does not include the Complete
Learning Kit

| Staff Trainings and Consultations Training for childcare providers who wish to use
signing in the childcare environment. Focus is on developing the use of
signing in childcare. By arrangement; contact Mika for information.
$60-$100/hr, depending on size of group and specific content. |

Presentations introducing the concept of signing with babies. Focus is
